I COOKED A FESTIVE DINNER FOR 20 PEOPLE FOR MY HUSBAND’S BIRTHDAY — THEN HE DITCHED ME TO CELEBRATE AT A BAR WITH FRIENDS.

Two weeks before his 35th, Todd asked me to throw a big dinner—family, buddies, the works—then did nothing to help. On the night, with the food hot and the house spotless, he breezed in, said he was heading to the bar, and told me to cancel everything.

I refused. I texted everyone: “Change of plans—Todd had to step out, but the party’s still on!” People showed up, we ate, laughed, and had a great time. The place was buzzing.

One of his friends called him from our living room—“Your house is the spot tonight, why aren’t you here?” Todd rushed back to find the party thriving without him and got greeted with playful cheers.

He pulled me aside, apologized, and admitted he’d been a fool. He joined in, made up for it, and the night ended as a real celebration—of friends, family, and a lesson learned.
